This is one of my favorite 'uptown' old Dublin haunts because they prepare fresh each day and you feel like you've step into a casual French café and bakery. Breakfast starting at 7AM: enjoy a traditional "petit déjeuner" with homemade quiche, croissants, beignets and rich French roast coffee,. A casual, self-serve style is easy on the budget. Sit outside on the bricked patio or warm up by the fireplace in winter. They roll right into lunch - try their special seafood sausage on baguette. Tea Time: stop in for a beautiful mini fruit tart, a coffee, tea or even a glass of wine (Happy Hour from 2-6PM.) Dinner: start your meal with escargot, charcuterie or other sharable hors d'oeuvres. Then choose from a variety of French fare: a beef Bourguignon cassoulet, chicken cordon bleu on brioche. You won't be disappointed if you order dessert: creme brûlée or homemade chocolate mousse layered with genoise chocolate cake, topped with Belgian chocolate ganache. http://lachatelainebakery.com/Bistro

Sightseeing

Named by the USA Travel Guide as the number one zoo in the United States and ranked #1 best zoo in 2012 by Besties Readers Choice. Be sure to see the new 'Heart of Africa,' the Zoo's newest region covering 43-acres. Across the African savanna, you might see a caravan of camels, African lions napping in the shade, or a cheetah sprint around the watering hole while zebras, wildebeests and gazelles roam. Feed the giraffes, take a camel ride or understand the conservancy program for Kenya's lions.

German Village is a historic neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, just south of downtown, settled in the early-to-mid-19th century by German immigrants. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, becoming the largest privately funded preservation district on the list. Fun to explore The Loft, one of the few remaining independent book stores with it's 32 maze of rooms. Eat German food at Schmidt's Sausage Haus, an iconic establishment that's been serving five generations for over 130 years. Entertainment includes the Squeezin' N' Wheezin' band every Thursday and Friday night and Schmidt's very own Haus band, Schnickelfritz, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Make sure to save room for one of their homemade giant cream puffs! Today German Village is one of the premier historic restorations in the world.

Short North Arts District is a FUN, eclectic mix of art galleries, restaurants, bars, theatre, and more along with some iconic wall art and renovated, trendy residential space. On Gallery Hop, the first Saturday of the month, thousands of people converge on High Street. Art in all forms is celebrated: over 20 art galleries open their doors at night. Restaurants, boutiques, salons, and businesses show off the 'art of the evening,' often spotlighting established and emerging Ohio-based artists of all forms. The party continues long after the galleries close.

Shopping

The Morgan House Restaurant & Gift Shop started as a reassembled log cabin from Civil War days. Now it takes up 18,000 square feet and has become a destination because of its eclectic mix of items anywhere from furniture and home accents, clothing & jewelry, gourmet food items, unique gifts. Great lunch and ambiance in the restaurant, too, with wonderful homemade muffins.

Essentials

Market District Dublin provides premium products, including organic, local, imported and gluten-free foods. They have expanded produce, meat, deli, bakery and bulk-food sections, compared to most grocery stores. It offers a Sizzling Wok station, where chefs prepare a stir-fry based on customers' choice of vegetables, proteins and sauces. There's an extensive cheese department arranged by country, good wine prices and selection, and there's even a state liquor store within.
