The view you get from the roof top of this place is worth the ticket entry alone! Amazing panoramic views of the city, and quite a fun and quirky museum as well...very interactive and funny.

A walk to the top of Arthur's seat is a must if you want to feel like you are suddenly transported out of the city into the highlands. The views can't be beat from up here.

I love the view from Calton Hill as well. It is a much shorter walk to the top compared to Arthurs Seat, so if you want a quicker route to a view, this is it (5-10 min walk to top). Cafe at top!

Free entry. This is a beautiful and iconic gothic building, with grand galleries and paintings of the important people of Scotland's history. It's nice to have some tea in the cafe after, too!

For a day trip and some beach, take the bus to Cramond village! Great place for views and scenery outside of the city (40 min bus ride). Grab some lunch at Cramond Inn - very nice pub food!

This is an amazing wee Italian restaurant just around the corner from the flat. The pizza and their large Antipasto platters are excellent. Super cosy, great staff, and lovely atmosphere.

Slightly upscale, the food here is delicious. It's a great place to try the Scottish classics like haggis, as they do it excellently! My personal favourite dish is the lobster risotto :)

I really really love this Turkish restaurant. Opened just a couple years ago, it is incredibly authentic and delicious. Don't go here if you are in a rush, the food takes time to cook (probably because their meat tagines are so perfectly slow cooked to perfection)

However she was homesick for a decent Canadian bagel, so she finally opened this incredible shop on Leith Walk (being a Canadian, I couldn't be more ecstatic!). For a local taste, try the Leither bagel which has fresh Scottish Smoked Salmon and jalapeno cream cheese with butter pickles. They also do New York Style beef bagels, turkey bagels, breakfast bagels, Veggie and Vegan bagels and more. Iced coffee is delish too. https://brossbagels.com

Great picnic spot, and lovely place to relax and have a wander in nature without leaving the city. There is also a medieval ruin called St Anthonys Chapel if you fancy a wander up the hill.
