Drinks & Nightlife

The Coach House is a great spot for a cold creamy pint of Guinness. Located on the Main Street in Roundwood, the pub has a great traditional feel and everyone is really welcoming. There are live bands on Saturday and Sunday evenings and you can hustle a local for a game of pool if you play nice! They also serve fantastic food, huge plates of hearty grub like your Mam would make you! Check out the classic Irish dish of Bacon and Cabbage. Sounds awful? It's the best thing ever! Salty fresh slices of thick bacon, fluffy floury potatoes, sweet cooked cabbage, all covered in heaps of creamy parsley sauce. The perfect belly filler after a day out hiking or cycling! Trust us!

Food Scene

Check out Byrne & Woods in Roundwood Village. It's a stunning Michelin Bib restaurant with a traditional bar off to the side. The menu is packed full of fresh, local produce. As you are in Wicklow, make sure to check out the free range Lamb on the menu, it's pretty much fresh from the fields around you! Succulent, melt in the mouth meat, served with beautifully prepared potato and vegetables and gravy/sauce to die for! Match it with a beautiful Malbec and if you've any room left, tuck into a Sticky Toffee Pudding! A wonderful place to relax in Roundwood. There's traditional music and storytelling in the bar on Wednesday nights too. Just ask for Joe and tell him Mick and Aileen sent you! Make sure to book in advance at the weekends as it gets very busy.

For thousands of years people have been drawn to ‘the valley of the two lakes‘ for its spectacular scenery, rich history, archaeology and abundant wildlife. It is home to one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland. This early Christian monastic settlement was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century and from this developed the “Monastic City”. You can book a tour of the Monastic Site at the Visitor Centre and it is well worth doing.
