Food Scene
Nika & I absolutely love Moona! The menu here is just outstanding, always creative and crafted, and full of flavor! Middle Eastern with Mediterranean influences, this place has not disappointed once. A small, intimate space, the restaurant is romantic and the wine unpretentious in price and splendid in taste! 100% worth a visit if in Boston or anywhere within 30-miles of Boston... 40-miles, maybe! It's worth a visit!

Most people think the North End when thinking Italian food, but they're missing out because the best Italian joint in Boston (and that's a bold statement) is Grotto! Yes, it's a little bit on the pricier side, but it is SO worth it! The spaghetti and meatballs are just incredible! And the sauce... oh my! It's small, it's busy, it's intimate, it's loud (unless you go a little later, and then it's VERY romantic)! The wine selection is top-notch too! You'll likely need a reservation, but at least you're not dodging thousands of people walking to get here (like in the North End). Three thumbs up!

Just steps from our vacation home, to call the Warren Tavern just another restaurant is a disservice! Dating to 1780, history dines at the Warren Tavern with the likes of George Washington & Paul Revere plotting the future of America here while enjoying a pint (and burger)! You can feel the history inside, and maybe a cold draft that makes you think George Washington's ghost, but then you shake it off and remember that everyone in here are friends! It's a local spot so Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights are usually busy and loud (with trivia and live music occupying quieter nights), but when the Patriots take the field on Sunday's in the fall, the Warren Tavern is the go-to establishment!

This little local gem gets 6 out of 5 stars! Family-owned and operated since 1926, Bova's Bakery is the premier bakery of Boston's North End! Everyone says Mike's or Modern, but we say Bova's! Open 24/7/365, go for the Congo Bar, but keep the cannoli's! Maybe an 18-minute walk from our home, we definitely recommend a visit to this - somehow - hidden gem!

Maybe a 3-minute walk from our home, Legal Oysteria is one of Charlestown's best seafood restaurants from the Legal Seafood's chain! Mediterranean-influenced cuisine, Legal Oysteria serves up very good food and sets the mood right with a romantic setting that mixes low-lights with high-spirits! On the pricier side, if it's seafood you want, well, this is your local spot! Very good weekend brunch too, but busy!

Charlestown's newest beer garden, the love child of Michael Cooney & Chef John Paine, this spot is vibrant, energetic, alive, and brings the party to Charlestown! It's pretty consistently packed, but the nights that are less busy are our personal favorites because you can really appreciate the nice beer and wine selection they have! With wood-fired meatballs, kimchi-slathered pork belly, and pizzas studded with smoked meats from Moody’s Delicatessen, Brewer’s Fork creates some takes on American tavern eats! Maybe a 7-minute walk from our home, this place deserves a visit if possible!

A hop, skip and jump away from our home, Tangierino is a neighborhood institution! Brining tastes of Morocco to Main Street in Charlestown, the menu here is truly exceptional and most certainly unique! Slightly on the pricey side, we wouldn't let that stop you as the decor inside makes the experience worthwhile! Good menu, excellent drinks, festive ambiance and decor, right next door to Madera 83 (and right above Koullshi hookah bar), Tangierino is a place that's very close and a place that we enjoy (but only when our stomachs are empty and our wallets are full)!

Also just around the corner from our home, the neighborhoods newest resident, Madera 83 is a Spanish tapas and wine bar that finally brings some flavor to this side of the bridge (so to speak). The latest venture by Samad Namaad, Executive Chef behind Tangierino (just next door), Chef Namaad uses the bounty of New England’s seacoast and small, local farms to create a menu that merges traditional Spanish cuisine with local flavor. And it's delicious! They also have an excellent selection of wine, and the vibe here is fun too so you can make a night of it here! Do we recommend? YES!

Just around the corner from our home, Figs is a great neighborhood restaurant that serves up awesome nuevo-Italian cuisine! The pizza is very unique here and is made in a Mediterranean style that is flavorful! A cozy space that is great for a solo dinner or date night, the roaring open-faced wood-burning brick oven is exceptional and adds a romantic glow to the establishment! The menu here is very good, the wine selection is better, and the ambiance feels very European (Parisian specifically)! We definitely recommend a night here for our guests!

So, the debate around town is who serves up the best slice in town! And in the esteemed and professional opinion of these pizza-eating hosts, we are Team Regina Pizzeria all-day, everyday! (But if you do like 2nd Place pizza, the other place is Santarpios in East Boston who - for the record - makes a very good 2nd Place pie!) Around since 1926, Regina Pizzeria is "Boston's Original Pizzeria!" Here, you can expect a no-frills staff with thick Bawstan accents! Basically, your server will ask if you need anything else while walking away but don't take it personally, it's just Boston! And the pizza is worth it! Definitely go!

Established in 1634, Boston Common is America’s OLDEST public park! Colonists purchased the land rights to the Common’s 44 acres for 30 pounds. The pasture then became known as the "Common Land" and was used to graze local livestock until 1830. Whether it's a summer picnic in the grass or winter ice-skating on Frog Pond, Boston's oldest public park is the perfect escape from the bustle of the city.

The Massachusetts State House was completed in 1798, and is widely acclaimed as one of the more magnificent public buildings in the country. The land for the State House was originally used as John Hancock’s cow pasture. Its most distinct feature, the golden dome, was once made of wood, but was later overlaid with copper by Paul Revere. It was covered with 23-karat gold leaf for the first time in 1874 and was painted grey during World War II to protect the city from bombing attacks. The State House dome was most recently gilded in 1997. FREE turs are available Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Take a family walk along the Harbor by following the Waterfront Trail which passes along the edge of wharves, piers, beaches and shoreline. You will discover some very quaint areas as you traverse the city’s many different attractions, while at the same time enjoying some fresh air and exercise. And, if you get a little weary, you can always take a water taxi! Harborwalk is in the process of expanding and, when fully completed, will extend in total to 46.9 miles from Chelsea Creek to Neponset River.
Drinks & Nightlife
Koullshi Lounge & Hookah Bar is “Boston's Hottest New Spot” according to the Boston Globe, and we wouldn't disagree! It's a very fun place to spend the night, enjoying drinks, Persian belly-dancing, premium hookah and cigars, full bar, food, and sultry Shisha! Be careful here... you might be in for a long night and a longer morning!
