Must See Sights

The west gate is 25 miles away. If driving we suggest you get the Gypsy Guide Yellowstone app. Uses GPS to guide you through the park. Liking having your own personal guide. Suggest making three loops, three separate days: South loop: To Old Faithful and back. Can be full day. Norris - Grand Canyon Loop: To Norris Geyser Basin and then over to Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. North Loop to Mammoth Hot Springs and beyond: Plan to walk the trails of Mammoth Hot Springs. A feast for the camera.

Spring produces over 120 million gallons of water per day. Flows right out of mountain. Crystal clear. Can see big trout under bridge. Take bread to feed trout. Historical Landmark there: Johnny Sack Cabin. He built it himself about 80 years ago. Big Springs is located just 4 miles up the road from our cabin.

Two ways of seeing the Park. Take a bus tour (Buffalo Bus Touring Co) where the guide gives you an excellent in depth description of the history and geography of the Park while stopping at all the sight seeing high points. OR... self drive. Our suggestion is to do both. Southern loop take bus tour. To see rest of Park self drive. We suggest you download to your cell phone the app: Gypsy Guide to Yellowstone Park. It will point out and describe every approaching site of interest. Since there isn't enough room here to adequately describe what we would recommend you see, we will send you a detailed description of what we think you should put on your agenda of must see stops in the park. Our guide will be sent to you a week or two before your arrival at our cabin. So be sure to look for it. Your Yellowstone experience will be one of the most memorable for you if you follow our recommendations. So look for our detailed travel guide to Yellowstone.
