Food Scene

A local standout, excellent service, dark and busy with tasty American food -- steaks, ribs, chicken, fish and inventive appetizers, an excellent wine selection, fun cocktails, and don't forget to leave room for the decadent bread pudding!

Brunch, Lunch, or Dinner -- no reservations but worth any short wait. Not a huge menu, but an open airy restaurant, small, friendly, no attitude. Classic California with fresh greens from the rooftop garden.

Restaurant and Bar -- but famous for it's home cured pastrami. They are deservedly proud of the meat they prepare and serve -- the west coast version of a classic, with LOTS of beers on tap to quench your thirst.

Ok. I’ll share my favorite. Comfortable, unpretentious authentic restaurant with a menu chock full of flavors. If you’re in the know, La Viga is an affordable treat for dinner.

Drinks & Nightlife

Friday nights is family friendly -- Food Trucks, kids, dogs, music, and a diverse array of fresh homemade beers. I'm partial to "California Sunshine," but I'm swayed by the name!

Update June 7, 2021 — Just went here on the weekend with grandparents AND teenagers for the first time in a while — and we shared a beautiful walk on a gentle trail and then through the delightful abundant, fragrant and manicured gardens. Cafe, food trucks, and charming gift store including plants for sale. 10 minutes from our house.

Essentials

Oh the places we go! And we go here often. Lots of pre-made sandwiches and salads for picnics, loads of wine & beer. Get a few bottles of Vinho Verde for a sparkling light taste of Portugal and summer.

Entertainment & Activities

Update June 7, 2021: Now teaching in-studio, fully vaccinated classes! Lots of variety -- Hot Yoga, warm yoga, Yin & Restorative classes, and a core crunching, butt tightening, calf firming Core Fit class with the inimitable Val. Showers. Mats & Towels available for rent. Drop in classes aren't cheap. But if you have a hankering to get your yoga on, this place is an 8 minute drive -- and it's above Peet's Coffee, so you get aromatherapy thrown in: BONUS! :-)

A fun 9 hole, par 3 course, around 12 minutes away. I play it a few times a month -- more in the summer. $15 a round. $3 a beer (Stock up in the pro shop -- don't bring your own.) First 3 holes are 170 yards and the most challenging. Next 6 holes are 100-150 yards. Get out your wedges. They ALSO have an 18 hole Frisbee Golf course on the same grounds! Very challenging and recommended if you brought your discs -- or you can rent/borrow/buy some in the pro shop.
