Kua Aina Sandwich in Haleiwa also good casual food. For breakfast go to Ted's (and get a chocolate haupia pie for later in the day) or Haleiwa Café for local fare.

Sunset beach is one of the iconic beaches of the North Shore, along with Waimea, and Pipeline. These beaches are the scene of the Triple Crown surfing contests in December. They are also great fun for swimming and boogie boarding. Do be aware that the waves can be dangerous and follow all life guard notices.

This is a great place to shop and get a feel for the old sugar plantation/mill context of one of the early Hawaii economic engines. Great for picking up tourist gifts, including locally grown and roated coffee and local chocolate. You can take a tour of coffee production. There is also a surf board shaping place and a soap production area.

Malama is the only supermarket in a four mile radius. It is pricey but has most everything you'll need including a deli. Foodland at Sharks Cove in the next closest option. Safeway, Foodland, Tamuras, and Times Markets in Wahiawa and Mililani are the next nearest and somewhat more reasonably priced markets. Longs in Haleiwa also has some produce and groceries. If your are staying for a longer time and are a Costco Member, consider getting some of your food there--about 20 miles away in Waipahu.
