Palmar de Ocoa was a fishing Town, there's a small supermarket, for basics and a fishermen's association where you can buy some fresh fish. Don't expect stellar service or a beautiful storefront, but you can find the fresh catch of the day to prepare on the BBQ at a reasonable price, some haggling is expected, just have an idea of the supermarket price and substract 30% to 50%. The price is usually higher in Hollidays and long weekends when the visitors, usually "Capitaleños" exhaust the supply. Ask them to clean and gut the fish for you (for a small fee), they can even filet the cuts which will save you time.
