Conveniently located a 5 minute walk from your front door, Canmore Brewing's taproom is a great spot to grab some locally made pints. They have some quick bites you can grab, but really, you're there for the beer.

Consejos para la ciudad

Costumbres y cultura

Don't feed the wildlife

Although tempting, don't attempt to feed the wildlife. Elk, Bears and Deer although seemingly fearless should never be fed and you should maintain your distance at all times. Never approach wildlife for a photo as these animals are not domesticated and can be dangerous. It's safest to stay in your vehicle or make sure there is distance between you and all wildlife. If fed by humans, wildlife will eventually become a problem and be exterminated, which is not the fate they deserve. For hikers, Bear spray can be purchased at the Canadian Tire and they show you how to use it properly.
Qué debes empacar

Warm jacket, comfortable shoes

The locals in this area dress VERY casually. Wearing a pair of jeans to ANY restaurant in the area is *almost* too overdressed. Instead, bring a warm coat, comfortable shoes and quite possibly a toque (beanie) to fit in with everyone else. The evenings get chilly, even in summer, so be prepared. The winter months get even chillier so don't be afraid to pack so you're prepared to layer up with lots of warm woolies.

Moraine Lake/Lake Louise Shuttle

Want to visit Moraine Lake or Lake Louise between May and October? Pre-book your shuttle spot in order to ensure you actually have a chance to see these areas. These places are extremely popular so the easiest thing to do is pre-book your shuttle timeslot. Search for the Lake Louise Moraine Lake shuttle and you can do it all online.
Facilidad para moverse por la casa

Transportation in the area

Renting a car is the most flexible and independent way to explore the area. Everything you'll want to explore is within a 1-2 hour drive from Canmore. However, Canmore itself is 100% walkable and has a great local bus service. You can also take the bus to Banff townsite to explore for the day. When you take the bus, no Banff Park Pass is needed (it's only for vehicles). You can also book a shuttle to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake from Canmore or a shuttle to the Calgary Airport. So, a rental car is not the ONLY way to see the area.
