Food scene
There aren't restaurants close by but This is a wonderful restaurant you wouldn't expect to find in the middle of nowhere up here! They serve steaks, Prime rib, seafood, salmon, burgers, shrimp baskets, and more! Try the Seafood Pasta, it's outstanding! On Saturdays in the evening when the weather is good, they have a one man band on the patio, which is fun too dine and listen to music. You can bring your own alcoholic beverages inside while you dine. The restaurant is about 15 miles from the cabins, but it's worth the drive! They are open for lunch and dinner Wednesday-Saturday. From your cabin, go back to the highway, turn right, then turn left onto hwy 43 in Boxley Valley, then turn right onto hwy 74 toward Jasper. It's a very curvy road but beautiful! Stay on hwy 74 until you come to Low Gap

City/town information
Kingston is 6 miles from Heavens Door cabins. Just go back to the highway, and turn left and drive 6 miles to get there. The little town square in Kingston has a feed store, a bank, a library, and an antique store, and there is a convenience store (Kingston Station) where you can buy beer and gas, ice, a few necessities, PLUS they also have a little diner, and serve great burgers, and great breakfasts, and have daily 'blue plate' specials! You can order to go or dine in the seating area in back.

Sightseeing
Sweden Creek Falls is only a mile from Heavens Door cabins. Just go out the driveway and turn right on the gravel road and drive a little over a mile. You'll see the parking area, just park and start hiking on the trail. It's a beautiful Hike- it's one mile in and one mile out, not a hard hike, but it's a little steep coming out. There are pretty smaller waterfalls you'll come to first, but keep going, and when the water is flowing, you'll come to the big 81 ft. waterfall! The rock formations there are amazing! Great place to hike to and take a picnic!

Sweden Creek Falls

Come prepared! Closest grocery store is 30 minutes away!
Be sure and bring your groceries and drinks, and charcoal and lighter fluid for the grill. The closest grocery store is about 30 minutes away in either Huntsville, or Harrison. Also be sure and check the weather and in the fall/winter bring plenty of warm clothes, you never know when the temps will drop drastically! Also in the summer, be sure and bring tick spray if you go hike.
