Sightseeing

From my house you can walk along the coastal path, along the foot of the cliffs all the way to the nature reserve at Samphire Hoe- you can see it in the distance in this foto. Then after a snack at the cafe you can climb up to the top of the cliffs and walk back along the cliff top to my house and Folkestone. Takes about 4 hours. It’s an amazing walk

Possibly the largest collection of bent, burnt and twisted pieces of aircraft aluminium that I have seen. But seriously, it’s fascinating and worth a half day 😊

Do not leave FK without visiting this amazing wild beach. No cafe, toilets, amusements. Just 25 minute walk to this really interesting seascape with a wonderful beach. Go early and catch the sunrise over the white cliffs - or even better go at dusk and catch moonrise to the east. Take a picnic, bbq or just go and chill - and watch out for the confusing time change when your phone flicks to French time🙄

Mark Sargeant’s restaurant - right in the harbour with a gorgeous terrace and fab upstairs bar that also does snack food. If you really want to eat here you need to plan as it is generally booked up weeks ahead. I have had ‘mixed’ experiences here - some inspired but some a bit, well, mehhh. On balance I would say ‘go’ though. It’s a nice environment, the staff are so professional and any issues we had were dealt with speedily and satisfactorily.
