For a truly magical experience (watching a bat emergence in a natural setting) you can visit Old Tunnel, a park that was created to preserve the native nursery bat colony which took up residence in an abandoned railroad tunnel. Witnessing the spectacular emergence of 3 million tiny bats is an unforgettable experience. This colony consists of Mexican free-fall and cave myotis bats, a nursery colony of mothers and babies. May thru October is when you can see them as they migrate south in winter. 45 minutes drive.
