Food scene
The Bay Grocer is only 2 blocks away if you need milk, bread, veggies, cheeses and bits. It's more expensive than Woolies but they are more artisan. They have a good selection of ready-made, homemade meals too.
Woolies is about 400metres directly down Kingsley St. The butcher is across from Woolies and VERY good.
Yullis is a local casual restaurant that serves vegetarian/vegan food. It's Asian Fusion and they craft their own beers!
They do a fantastic $40 per head banquet which is yummy. 1 or 2 of the dishes are on the hotter side, but overall it's mild...and that is coming from a person who doesn't each chilli.

Top Shop is good for brekkie and lunch....and COFFEE. 2 min walk will have your morning coffee taken care of. Take a mug from home and help the planet :) (not the pink hand made ones please...they're my precious favourites.
Granola/yohgurt and fresh fruit is our favourite brekkie, but egg and bacon rolls are also very good.
Lunchtime is burgers, but they have a ready made quinoa salad that is very yummy too.

If there is a northerly wind and Main Beach/Clarkes Beach are not too good, then try Cosy Corner. You can drive there, but it's a great 25min walk from our front door. The walk is pretty much in line with the rear of our house. To get there walk towards the Top Shop and turn right and right again and then follow the trails down to the beach and then up the beach by turning left to Cosy Corner (bottom of the lighthouse)
Be careful of rips near rocks....the surfers ride them out to the bigger waves.

Wategos Beach has a great little coffee and food cart if you are looking for a nice sunrise spot and a light brekkie. Equally this is a great spot for a bbq. Take your snags, salad and beers and enjoy an arvo barbie.

Very small neighbourhood but has a very fancy restaurant "Harvest". This restaurant has a great reputation. Saturday mornings it's nice to visit the bakery and have a look around a few very nicely appointed shops.

Mullum, is like old school byron. Lots of alternative people, shops showing wares from artists (cos they can still afford the rents), good healthy food and a very chilled vibe. There's an old fashioned lolly shop (it's great), excellent Japanese restaurant and a great cafe called FLOCK which is set in a garden and worth the visit.

Besides being a lovely seaside town that is more down to earth than Byron, Lennox has Lake Ainsworth - which is a tea tree lake just adjacent to the surf beach. Something here for everyone. It's gorgeous and beautiful for kids.
