“Boris's Garden is the largest park in Sofia. First, the park is called the Nursery, later called Pipiniere. Until 1885 the park is also popular as the Tsarigradska garden. After the birth of the Crown Prince Boris Tarnovski was renamed the Knyaz Borisova Garden. Under the totalitarian regime (1944-1989) the name was changed to Park of Freedom. Following the democratization of the country, the park was again named Boris III.”

“The Doctor's Garden is a park in Sofia between the streets of Oborishte and Shipka. It is located on the back of the National Library "St. St. Cyril and Methodius "and near a large part of the historical monuments of the capital and the state institutions. The name of the park is named after the Doctor's Memorial built in memory of the fallen medical workers during the Russo-Turkish War of Liberation from 1877-1878, most of whom worked in the mission of the Russian Red Cross and fallen into the fighting Pleven, Plovdiv, Mechka and Shipka peak. The monument was built in 1883-1884 by a project of the Russian architect of Czech origin Antonii Osipovich Tomishko”

The garden is located near a metro station, a trolley bus stop, banks, cultural landmarks, ministries and hotels. It is a favorite place for artists, athletes and adolescents. It is suitable for parents with small children.”

“As soon as he arrived in 1887, Prince Ferdinand I invited Plovdiv city gardener, Swiss Shavalas, to revamp the alley network, build glazed pavilions for flower gardens and enrich the vegetation in the Botanical Garden. Austria was invited by the gardener, J. Kelerer, to form a large rock garden with several thousand rare species. The greenhouses were built in 1893 by arch. Friedrich Grünanger. Since 1891, a zoo has been organized by the prince in the garden. The Prince and Gardens Prof. J. Lochho, J. Fry and J. Morrisse structure a botanical and decorative exotic department. In 1903 an elegant secession cast iron fence was built with stone pillars of arch. Georgi Fingov .”

To prove that I will just share you a secret - my husband and I ordered our wedding cake from there and all the guests talked for months about it :) Plus, they have a beautiful garden outside, so it is perfect for sunny days.”

“This dream-place is hidden right in the city center. The botanic garden stays out of view as it is surrounded by the Foreign Art Gallery, the Journalist Faculty of Sofia University, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the main boulevard Vasil Levski and the entrance is trough a small flower shop.”

“The park consists of 2 parts. The lower part towards Slivnitsas blvd. is a city park with alleys, benches and playgrounds. The upper part above Tsaritsa Yoana blvd. is full of great picnic spots, trails, alleys, benches, forest, biking trails and if you reach the end of the park towards Krasna Polyana, great view over the Lyulin, Vitosha and Stara Planina Mountains.”
