The studio is in the middle of the nature which is awesome for hiking and for people seeking a rest from the city. Easy access with a paved road, 20min from Boulder. The studio itself is very comfy, Kathy is super nice and helpful. 10/10 would stay again and probably will.

The good: - From the photos I was expecting the space to be a little austere or rugged, but it was spacious, bright, and warmly decorated. Definitely feels more like a funky, cozy apartment than a cabin in the woods. - Kathy is an experienced, attentive host. She left detailed instructions and came over to introduce herself and give a tour, but was otherwise respectful of my privacy and space. - Internet is fast and reliable. No wifi, only wired, but Kathy has adapters for both USB and Thunderbolt iPhones/iPads. Tip: you can turn your Mac laptop into a wifi hotspot by going to "Sharing" under System Preferences. - Having a fridge + mini-kitchen is great and saves a ton of time and money over going out for every meal, especially for longer stays. - Lots of little amenities, like snacks, board games, field guides, toiletries, lotion/sunscreen, razor, etc... I like traveling light so having stuff like that available is a big plus. - Lots of privacy. If you're like me and feel awkward about staying in someone's house, you'll be fine here. The bathroom is shared but even that is at the other end of the apartment from the sleeping area so you don't feel like people are in your space when they're in the bathroom. - Beautiful trails and nature walks right outside your door. The caveats: - Yes, you have to drive up/down a mountain to get from/to Boulder. The first time up was a bit intimidating (arrive in daylight if possible) but after that I found the winding roads pleasant and relaxing (there are some spectacular views of Boulder along the way!) You don't need an SUV, just snow tires -- it's paved except for the last 50 feet or so. The commute time isn't bad at all, especially since you emerge on Baseline road which will get you to Pearl Street and UCB within 10 minutes. - You're in the woods so there will be some small insects and spiders that get inside (mostly lacewings). Nothing dangerous or creepy-crawly, and the space is so big that you don't really even notice, but if the sight of a bug freaks you out you probably don't want to stay here. - Climbing up and down a ladder to get into bed is annoying, no way around it. Didn't really affect my stay overall though. Overall: Beautiful, cozy, private, unique space. If you're outdoorsy, you'll love it, but even if you're planning on spending most of your time in Boulder proper this is a great option as long as you have a car.

Kai- I appreciated your detailed positive feedback. I will try to be more attentive to removing insects from the room & will be adding a protective railing to the loft. Best wishes to you. Come again!

It was like staying with a friend. Thanks Kathy for hosting me. I appreciate your warm reception, banana bread was delicious and right what one may need in the morning. And thanks for the ride back to the city. Good luck and you are welcome in Ukraine. Thanks for being a great host.
