This cottage is the sweetest on the planet. It used to be the "everyday" barn complete with a two-seater outhouse and a hay loft. Now completely remodeled, it's small yet has everything that you need to be comfortable and cozy. The property is almost an acre and is filled with organic raised beds along with many beautiful flowers and stunning and unusual trees. The property and home was used as the town farrier's shoppe and at one time the Post Office. The farrier's barn burned long ago, but the foundation remains along with many horse shoes and antique glass bottles. The house is on the National Register and dates to circa 1823. It has many of the original features and it's quite solidly built. It was also an asparagus and apple farm. We have chickens that stay in the run and coop, a bunny that has his hutch and one sweet elderly Beagle that everyone loves. The entire property is a non-smoking space. PLEASE do not smoke anywhere on this property. Lastly, we're on a well and private Title V Septic system, so please conserve water and don't flush anything down the toilet that isn't toilet paper.

Guests can access the cottage and the basement for storage. Also please make enjoy the wood chip fire pit area and the outdoor shower. Guests can also do laundry in the mudroom of the main house for a small fee. Please bring your own detergent that works in a HE machine. Guests are welcomed to roam around the yard. Please don't let the chickens out of the run. Feel free to feed them any scraps that you have except for raw potatoes or avocado peelings (those items can go into the trash) or coffee grounds (which can be thrown on any of the flower beds). The bunny, Huey, stays in his hutch and the dog mostly sticks around with me all day. I have a music jam in my kitchen in the main house on Wednesday evenings that starts around 8. You are welcomed to attend to listen or to play. We mostly play bluegrass, folk, gospel, and swing music. It's fun!!

I'm around a lot, working in the yard or playing music or cooking in the main house. I also have my phone with me at all times so you can text or call me if you need anything. I am SUPER friendly and really, really energetic, but I know to let you have your space. So if you need me, let me know and I'll certainly help you out. I like to greet each guest so if you could tell me when you'll arrive that would be super. I always leave goodies for each guest, so please tell me if you have food allergies or aversions. My nick name is the Muffin Lady!

We are super centrally located! You have access to two bike/walking trails - one goes to the National Seashore beaches, the other goes from Wellfleet to Dennis. Both are located right up the street from the cottage.
We are surrounded by kettle ponds, bay beaches, and the ocean. We have a town green with a windmill where there are concerts every Monday night in the summer and various art festivals as well.
Best Restaurants..Eastham: Arnold's Lobster and Clam Bar (where both of my daughters have worked) with excellent fried seafood, lobster rolls, and general summer seafood along with ice cream and mini golf run by our friend Nick Nickerson. Sam's Deli on Brackett Rd is a good place to pick up sandwiches, and they also sell wine and beer. Karoo on RT-6 is a popular South African restaurant. Local Break - beer and American fare, yummy. Ben and Jerry's, need I say more, run by our pal Judy. Orleans: Rock Harbor Grill for dinner and The Corner Store for Burritos. P-Town: Napi’s for dinner and The Lobster Pot for lunch or dinner. Don’t miss the Portuguese Kale soup. Truro: Blackfish. Wellfleet: The Wicked Oyster, Mac’s Shack or Mac’s on the pier, and Finally J.P.’s
Grocery stores: We have the Eastham Superette and the General Store. Both are small and expensive, but both have groceries and produce. There are two full-size grocery stores in Orleans along with stores like T.J. Maxx and more restaurants.
Museums: The National Seashore Museum is located almost across the street from us, the Tool Museum down the street near the post office, and the windmill opens in the summer for tourists as well (right up the road). There is whale watching, bird watching, and people watching opportunities as well. There are tons of museums all over the Cape, just let me know what you're interested in and I'll point you in the right direction.

It's suggested that you bring or rent a bicycle to explore the area & get to the beaches without having to pay for parking. There's a bike shop right down the street - Little Capistrano Bike Rentals, run by our friends the Ayalla's who give our guests their “friends and family” discount. We are right on a major bus line, Plymouth & Brockton Bus, which runs to Boston, Providence, and beyond. We are also on a local bus line, Cape Cod RTA, which provides buses that travel all over the Cape. Also there are solar powered shuttles that can take you to the ocean beach in Eastham from right up the street from us. There's plenty of parking for your vehicle right on my property.

It's a short bike ride to many beaches, but if not biking you'll need a sticker to enter a beach or pond parking lot with a car. They sell daily passes right at the gate of the saltwater beaches (ocean or bay side), but not at the freshwater ponds. If you want to get a weekly sticker that's good for the bay and pond beaches, you need to go to the sticker shack near the Eastham Town Dump. For ocean beach passes, visit the National Seashore Visitor Center.
