We had a lot of interesting information on Soweto and discovered places only locals go to. You’ll love the braai at the end!

We enjoyed the tour a lot. First Sibusiso told us about the history of Soweto and about the student uprisings in 1976. Then we went to Soweto Beer and had a beer tasting and we ate at Chaf Pozi near the Soweto Tours. At the end we visited one of the poorer settlements. Thank you for this interesting insight into the life in Soweto!

What a magical experience I had while visiting Soweto. Although the history of Apartheid and the struggle for freedom is certainly nothing to take lightly; the magic of it all was through the storytelling, the intricate history, and the personal connection that felt with my tour guide – Banele. I would encourage everyone to not overlook this city due to any preconceived notions. I felt absolutely safe, and I at times fitted right in. Until I opened my mouth, of course, and then people could tell where I was from due to my accent. Anyhoo, Sibusiso and Banele are extraordinary and you would be doing yourself a disservice to pass up this opportunity. I am so glad that I experience the magic...

We had a great day with Sibusiso! He also brought a friend along who is apprenticing to be able to do tours as well and he was also wonderful. I loved that it was just the two of us, so we got a truly personal experience. I learned so much about Mandela and the time of Apartheid in South Africa. We really felt like locals as we ate some local food and hung out a local spot for some beers. Since we did the afternoon tour and were running a bit late, we did not go to the Soweto gold brewery but we still got to taste some beer and get to know our hosts a bit better. I would definitely do this tour!
